The simpLEash Dual Handle is our pick for a leash that copes with mud and rain and gives you close control near traffic. It is 6 feet of silicone-coated nylon webbing that DogNerd says is waterproof, lightweight, not slippery when wet and does not retain smells. The first 18 inches, including the traffic handle, is double thick, and an integrated D-ring on the handle can hold accessories or make a cross-body loop. The quick-release carabiner is rated to 1000 kg and can be opened when the leash is taut. DogNerd says it is not chew-proof.
Why we like it
- A silicone coating wipes clean and does not hold smells.
- A traffic handle gives close control near roads.
- A carabiner that opens when the leash is tight.
Keep in mind
DogNerd says the leash is not chew-proof: a dog with very strong jaws can chew through it. It is rated by the brand's carabiner, not the webbing, so choose a heavier leash for a very strong dog.
Who it’s for
Dogs who walk in wet or dirty conditions, and owners who want a short handle for traffic or crowded places.

A leash for wet days
Silicone-coated nylon sheds water and mud and does not stay slippery when wet. DogNerd designed the simpLEash for wet or dirty adventures, and the coating makes cleaning a quick wipe.
A second handle for control
The traffic handle sits at the start of the leash and gives you a short grip when you need your dog close. The double-thick section adds chew resistance, though DogNerd is clear it is not chew-proof.
