The 8 Foot simpLEash is our pick when a 6 foot leash feels short. It uses the same silicone-coated nylon as the other simpLEash leashes, which DogNerd says is waterproof, lightweight, not slippery when wet and does not retain smells, in 8 feet. It has a quick-release carabiner rated to 1000 kg that opens when the leash is taut, and a G-clip on the handle so you can loop the leash around a tree or pole without unclipping your dog. DogNerd advises using a full-size carabiner for dogs who pull hard.
Why we like it
- Extra length for trails and open spaces.
- A silicone coating that wipes clean.
- A G-clip for looping around a post.
Keep in mind
DogNerd says to use a full-size carabiner with the G-clip for dogs who pull like oxen. A longer leash gives less control near traffic, so choose the 6 foot version for busy streets.
Who it’s for
Dogs who benefit from a longer lead on trails or in open spaces, and who walk in wet or dirty conditions.
