Measure back length and chest
Coats are sized by back length and chest. Measure your dog and compare with each brand's chart; where a page has no chart, ask the seller.
Waterproof or water-resistant
Water-resistant fabric copes with showers. For heavy rain and trails, look for a stated waterproof rating and taped seams.
Check the harness opening
Most of these coats have an opening so you can clip a leash to a harness underneath.

Do dogs need coats?
