- Front clip

- Dual attachment
- Offers both positions in one harness.
- Priority for either
- Correct size, adjustment and freedom of movement.
When a back clip makes sense
A back attachment keeps the connection above the torso and away from the front of the chest. It is a straightforward choice for an everyday walk with a dog whose leash habits already suit that setup. Keep the leash managed so it does not tangle around the legs.
When to consider a front clip
A front attachment changes the leash connection point and can give the handler a different way to manage direction. It is worth exploring with an appropriate training approach, but should not be treated as an automatic cure for pulling. Watch for twisting, rubbing or interference with movement.
Why we like having both options
A dual-attachment design lets you choose the connection that works for the situation. The Ruffwear Front Range includes an aluminum back V-ring and a reinforced front connection. That flexibility is one reason it makes our everyday walking shortlist.
Our recommendation
Choose fit and everyday comfort first, then decide which attachment options you need. If you are unsure how to handle pulling or your dog is uncomfortable in a harness, work with a qualified professional who can assess the dog and equipment together.
